Career day for singers and pianists!
Get a taste of the real world of opera. See what it takes to be a professional opera singer, and discover what a vocal coach does at Day at the Opera. Join other talented high school vocalists and pianists as they spend a day exploring the world of professional opera.
Throughout the day, students participate in a master class led by a member of the Opera's artistic staff, observe professionals in rehearsal, tour the scene and costume shops and more. A question-and-answer time will provide opportunity for students to learn about colleges, auditions and what the future might hold for young singers and pianists.
When does this happen and how much does it cost?
Dates: January 15, 2012 & February 20, 2012
The cost is $25/participant. Transportation is the responsibility of the student.
What does my student need to prepare? Vocal students are required to prepare one aria or art song (Please, no Broadway or pop) to be performed in the master class. A piece you are preparing for solo/ensemble contest or a college audition would be ideal. Pianists will be assigned a piece being performed in the master class a few weeks before the event. Call Jamie Andrews for more details.
Who can attend? Teachers, accompanists and parents are all welcome to attend but are not required.
How do I sign up my student? Call 612-342-9573, or email andrews@mnopera.org with your recommendation. There is no audition requirement and space is very limited. |
