The Minnesota Opera has three rehearsal rooms available for rentals during non-Opera rehearsal periods, primarily May through mid-August and the month of December. The rooms are rented for rehearsal and performance purposes and have been used for corporate meetings and non-profit gala and benefits. The Minnesota Opera Center cannot be rented out for personal private events such as weddings and other receptions.

 

The Rooms:

The Bemis Rehearsal Hall is located in the lower level of The Minnesota Opera Center. The room is 58 feet by 46 feet with a 22 feet ceiling and has a sprung floor. Bemis Rehearsal Hall has mirrors on the 46 foot wall of the room that can be uncovered as needed and a standard rehearsal room set up of 2 tables, 20 chairs and 5 music stands. The renter has direct access to green room, rest rooms and dressing room facilities down the hall.

The Jones Rehearsal Studio is located on the entry level of The Minnesota Opera Center. The room is 38 feet by 29 feet with a 10 feet 6 inch ceiling. The Jones Studio also has a sprung floor and mirror on the long wall covered with curtains and a standard rehearsal room set up of 1 table, 10 chairs and 5 music stands. The renter has access to green room, rest rooms and dressing room facilities in the lower level.

The Dance Studio is located on the second floor of The Minnesota Opera Center. The room is 38 feet by 29 feet with a 9 feet ceiling. The Dance Studio also has a sprung floor and mirror on the long wall and a standard rehearsal room set up of 1 table, 10 chairs and 5 music stands included. The renter has access to green room, rest rooms and dressing room facilities in the lower level.

Labor:

The Minnesota Opera Center is under the jurisdiction of IATSE Local #13 and depending on the circumstances, a crew member may be required to be in attendance during rental. Scene Shop personnel are generally not required if the rooms are rented for rehearsal purposes. If the room is rented for a performance at which admission is charged, Scene Shop personnel will be required at a rate of $28 per hour per person for a minimum of 4 hours.

 

Extras:

TABLES and CHAIRS:

Chairs and a limited number of six-foot rectangular tables, eight-foot rectangular tables and five-foot round tables can be provided at no additional charge depending on availability.  Renter is responsible for the set up and tear down of any set up in the rehearsal room. The renter can have the Opera Scene Shop set up and tear down chairs and tables at a rate of $28 per hour per person for a minimum of 4 hours (depending on the circumstances).

 

Pianos:

The renter has access to a piano in each room for an additional fee. A Yamaha Grand is available in Bemis Rehearsal Hall, a Steinway grand is available in the Jones Rehearsal Studio and an upright Pleyel is available in the Dance Studio. There is a tuning fee of $100 plus a $10 per day fee for use of each piano. The pianos must be tuned by the Opera’s Piano Technician. Additional tuning are available at a rate of $100 per tuning.

 

Catering:

A fee of $100 will be charged if the renter uses a caterer or has party rental equipment delivered to the Minnesota Opera Center. The caterer must be full service and approved by the Minnesota Opera. There is no kitchen facility at The Minnesota Opera Center.

 

 

Others:

The renter will provide one person who will act as the contact for the renting organization and will receive keys, door codes and alarm code for the renting organization.

A damage deposit of $250 is required for all rentals of the Minnesota Opera.
